Mental Health Awareness for Schools
This comprehensive website, presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association, includes general information and strategies for maintaining mental wellness, as well as information about common mental health disorders in children and adults. Free self-assessment tools like the Mental Health Meter and the Stress Index allow users to reflect on their personal strengths and identify areas where their level of mental fitness could be improved. The website also includes specific strategies that educators can use to support students with mental health challenges in their classroom, as well as links to resources to find help for individuals who may be struggling with mental illness. Finally, the School Toolkit includes information and tools for schools to get involved with Mental Health Week (#GetLoud), an annual national event in Canada held the first week of May to increase awareness and discussion about mental health, including efforts to reduce stigma and discrimination and increase support for individuals with mental health disorders.
